Welcome to the directory page of Shandon Golf Club showing the aerial video footage of every hole. Shandon Golf Club is a private members club in Petone, which welcomes visitors and members guests.
We have a superbly presented par 70 course, which is known for its treelined fairways and beautifully manicured, sloping greens. We believe it’s one of the finest golf courses in the region. Located on the banks of the Hutt River, just 15 minutes north of Wellington City.
Shandon Golf Club has existed on its current site on Gear Island since 1927, but it did not assume its current name until the following year, having initially been known as Johnsonville Golf Club. It was subsequently named after Shandon in Northern Ireland, which was the home town of the club captain at the time, J.M. Ellis.
A new clubhouse was soon erected and the club thrived, with membership growing rapidly. It was not until 1938 that the course we know and love came into being, when new land was acquired. Mr J. Watt, the professional at the Wellington Club, designed the layout.
